MEN'S LEAGUE NEWSLETTER

NOVEMBER 2 nd , 2006

A GREAT START!
Welcome back to another season of recreation and friendly competition on (and off) the ice.

NEW DRAW FORMAT
The draw has been modified to broaden your group of opponents.
We hope the new format will allow for teams to play and learn from a wider variety of skill levels.

AGM
The club's Annual General Meeting will be held November 22 nd at 8:30. We encourage all members to attend; this is your yearly oppourtunity to get caught up on the club business.

STRATEGY CLINIC
Ron Root will be hosting a strategy clinic, November 12 th from 1-3 PM. This is a great chance for Novice to Intermediate players to learn more about the finer points of the game. Learn what goes on (or should be going on) in your skip's head.

ETIQUETTE
Let's be reminded of the age-old adage “slow play kills a good game”.

  • Start your game on time
  • Watch the clock
  • Be ready in the hack
  • Set up your teammate's rocks and equipment
  • Enjoy the benefits of a well-paced game

HOT SPOTS
We're not talking the Bahamas
Be mindful that as you lay on the ice to eye your shot or to call the line, your knees and hands are creating flat spots in the pebble.

SNOWBALL
The snowball is the main fund-raiser for our Men's Bonspiel and could use more support from our members. As a member of the Men's club, you are automatically registered. Just drop your coin in the pot and sign the book. The winner is announced after the late draw on Thursdays – GOOD LUCK!

HELP WANTED!
The club is desperately seeking a co-ordinator for the Junior Program. We are all aware of the need to foster young curlers, allowing the oppourtunity for young people to experience the sport. There is on ice assistance and excellent reference material available – all that is required is someone to co-ordinate the program. If you are interested or need more information, talk to Brent or any member of the executive.

SENIOR MEN'S COASTAL PLAYDOWNS
Our club is pleased to be hosting the Senior Men's Coastal Playdowns, Feb. 2-4, 2007. Ron Schmidt is chairman of the host committee and will be seeking volunteers to fill a variety of positions, including timekeepers, officials etc. Let's get involved and make this a great event!
